Increased patient use of O+POSITIVE blood has caused an increased need for donors. Donate now!
Only around 6% of the population has Type A- blood. Only Types A and AB (positive and negative) can receive these red cells, and their Platelets are in high demand for Rh- blood type patients.
People with Type A- blood can only receive Type O and A negative… which is only 15% of the population!
Type A- donors are encouraged to give Double Red Cells or Platelets if they qualify. If not, they are encouraged to donate whole blood as often as they can (every 8 weeks!) Learn about the different donation processes here!
